We are pleased to announce plans for our 2006 retreat and hope you will be able to join us. This year also marks the 30th Anniversary of CUB and we look forward to a retreat with some of CUB’s founding members in attendance.
The goal of the CUB retreat is to create an environment for renewal, devotion, healing, peace and an escape from the pressures of ordinary life. It is a time to come together with others who know and understand the challenges we face as members of the adoption triad.
As before, the retreat will have four general sessions, and break-out groups for special interests. The pace is relaxed and there is plenty of time for strolls along the water, personal reflection, visits with other retreat participants, or other activities. This is a casual setting so please bring comfortable clothes and shoes.
One of our general sessions will feature Lee Campbell, the founder of CUB and other original members. Ann Fessler, author of The Girls Who Went Away, will lead another session with birthmothers who were interviewed for her book. Other sessions, to be announced, will feature presentations by adoptees.
An event for those whose reunions have been disappointing will be held once more this year. There will be separate groups for adoptees and birthparents. Those who have, so far, found disappointment in the relationship (or lack thereof) after their search are welcome to come and share with others similarly situated. This group will meet at approximately 4PM on Thursday, October 5, so please plan to arrive early enough if interested in this meeting.
The retreat admission includes two hosted group dinners—on Friday and Saturday nights. There are restaurants in and around the resort for other meals.
A hospitality suite will be open to retreat participants from Thursday to Saturday evening to visit with others while beverages and snacks are provided.
The weekend will conclude on Sunday with a town-hall style meeting. Nothing will be scheduled after noon, so plan your departure accordingly.

In short, you can carry these items on-board the plane in travel size containers (3 oz. or less) but must place them all in a quart-size ziplock bag, and be prepared to pull it out to screen separately. See the details here at the TSA website.
